MICROSOFT’S BILL GATES HAS BEEN QUOTED AS SAYING THAT ANY stage business that doesn’t rich person a “dot com’ after its name by the class 2000, isn’t really in byplay. Five or six years ago, many of us might wealthy person balked at that, merely today it’s evident that the Net is turning come out to be all that pundits said it would be. Last Christmas alone, 7.8 1000000 people bought merchandise online, ringing up receipts totaling $4.1 billion. This season, the figure of shoppers is expected to jump to over 24 one thousand thousand. Still, for many blackness occupation owners, the lingering question isn’t whether Websites work simply whether they work for Black businesses. To that question, experts answer, yes, they tin.

The identification number of Black person-owned businesses successfully leveraging the might of the Cyberspace is steadily increasing. Patrick McElroy, a former Website architect and creator of the search engine and directory World Wide is actively conducting research into the size of the World Wide Web’s Negro line population. He says that without a doubt, “It’s on the rise.” He strongly warns Negroid businesses against waiting practically longer to establish a WWW presence. “The is not a fad. It’s a proven medium, and it’s going to be an ingrained part of our culture.” There were 83.4 meg adults ages 16 or older accessing the as of April of this yr, according to Intelliquest. And Nielsen predicts 132.7 a million by the 2000.

The size and nature of the World Wide Network tin can make getting started challenging. Best assured, you don’t give birth to be a tech head to get involved. It’s easier now than it ever was, and the benefits ar real. Continued from page 1. In the two years the Prom Guide site has been online, Bowen has spent less than $5,000 construction, tweaking and maintaining it. He relied heavily on a couturier in the beginning, just like many ambitious Net shop owners, he’s learned a lot about development and now does a lot of the site’s regular upkeep himself.

Another significant advantage that some overlook: competitive mightiness. In the high-tech solutions arena, prospects typically ask integrators to submit proposals or bids. If you don’t deliver a Website, you could be of the running. Companies with well-executed Websites taken More seriously than those without them and reaching new to(p) territories, edifice allies and creating unexampled revenue streams. Sure, a smart Website takes money.

Building a web site often can lead to interesting deviations caused by practicalities and changes in perspective. This is okay so long as you keep things simple for prospects.

Many business owners unintentionally erect barriers between themselves and their customers when it comes to the site sales process. Simple mechanisms can be put in place to remove these barriers. A business owner that is always looking for new ways to connect with potential customers often finds his or her efforts paying off many times over. Some of the most common web sales barriers are lack of contact methods, payment methods, and delivery methods. To bridge these potential barriers, a business owner can provide more options to crossing each of these barriers.

Contact Barriers

Simply adding contact options can be a great way to create more sales. Some web sites only offer email or even just a contact form as a means of contact. Yet there are many people that prefer to conduct transactions over the phone, by mail or by fax. Retail sites discover this fact the first time they go through a hot sales period such as Christmas. Some people just like to call. No, I don’t know why. They just do.

Providing a broad range of contact options also builds credibility. Having an office address, fax and phone number in addition to an email address shows the prospective client that the business does in fact exist and has made themselves transparent and easy to contact. Providing such information gives people the impression they aren’t dealing with some Nigerian scam.

Using an 800 number is also an excellent way to build credibility and remove a sales barrier. Picking up the tab on calls from potential clients is a polite gesture and may encourage a potential buyer one more reason to call. Toll-free numbers are easy to obtain these days and can cost around 6 cents per minute – a small price to pay for building confidence in your audience.

Payment Barriers

Many web sites provide only one way to pay for merchandise – credit card. There are many reasons to offer more payment methods. For one, not everyone has a credit card. Although in the United States, it seems like almost everyone does, this is not true in over-seas markets where there is resistance to credit. Furthermore, some people just don’t feel safe providing credit card information over the web. Regardless of how safe or unsafe Internet transactions may or may not be, it is usually the job of the business owner to provide what the consumer wants.

It is a simple matter to provide an address and a printable order form for most web sites where a check can be mailed. If you are running a home business, a PO box is a simple solution to keep your business separate from your home. Some mail box services allow for your address to be a suite number instead of a box number, which can further improve the image of your business.

Providing a phone number by which orders can be placed is also a way to remove a barrier between you and your potential customers. Of course this means there must also be someone there to answer the phone. Simply answering the phone can be the difference between a sale and a lost sale.

Delivery Methods

For businesses providing products, providing a variety of delivery methods is yet another way to cater to the desires of your customers and potential customers. Many people have a preference for delivery and meeting this preference could be a deciding factor when deciding whether or not to place an order. For those businesses providing services, providing a delivery pickup service for a deposit and/or contract can be a perfect sale closer.

Conclusion

By removing barriers between you and your potential customers you can increase the chances of making sales. Other options are also available, like instant messaging support, mapped out directions, video conferencing and more. Be careful to not confuse your audience with too many options. It is often a good idea to direct your audience to default options for contact, payment and delivery so as not to confuse people. Other options can be shown as small links or drop down options. By working to connect more with your audience, your sales and customer satisfaction can be increased dramatically.

Who Has The Largest Retail Location In The World? The Internet, That’s Who!

We often hear about the many thousands of locations where you can find a Wal-Mart, or a Target, or even the remaining K-Marts. But none of these retail giants can even come close to the Internet.

We often hear about the many thousands of locations where you can find a Wal-Mart, or a Target, or even the remaining K-Marts. But none of these retail giants can even come close to the Internet.

I remember when many of us first got online circa 1997. There were only 17% of Americans online and most countries around the world had barely even heard of the World Wide Web.

Within a few short years, Amazon-com had become the biggest bookstore in history with literally millions of books at their fingertips. eBay became the largest retail operation in history and the biggest retail business in the world.

But those giant retailers that the media always points to aren’t the real story. From day one, the Internet was about offering people everywhere access to products, services, and ideas from everywhere else. The Net was about customizing.

Instead of going to Wal-Mart and choosing one of the three products they offered in the category of your choosing, you are able to go online and choose from just as many products as exist.

Take something like jewelry. Wal-Mart (and I only use them as an example because they’re in practically every community in America) offers a jewelry area with several hundred items. The Internet gives you quick access to literally MILLIONS of jewelry items.

And because most online stores are largely virtual, their costs are extremely low. That means while a discount retail store discounts products 20% or 30%, an online store can discount 40% to 70% and more. And they don’t just do that during special sales — online retailers give those kinds of savings every day.

There was a time when people thought they couldn’t judge a product unless they could hold it in their hand. But today, high resolution photographs, experiences provided by other shoppers, independent reviews, and more give shoppers a better chance than ever to find exactly the item they need — AND have total trust that the item will work perfectly for them.

So give yourself a fun online shopping spree today. You’ll get products your neighbors can’t find locally, you’ll get those products at amazingly low prices, and you can do it all without leaving the comfort of your home or office.

Why

Why do some things happen the way they do. Here, I point out some of the unique conundrums existing on earth.

humor,humour,jokes,life,puzzles,riddle,riddles,puzzle,why,entertainment,funny facts

Many articles supply answers, but here I do not. Here, I ask the questions. If you want to rack your brains for finding the answers to these life conundrums. But, I warn you. Beware. These are not easy, and though somewhat hilarious and funny, they are real and true to life.

Should I begin? Ok, here I go:

1) How come Tarzan has no bears even though he grows up with wolves in the jungle?

2) Why does glue not stick to the insides of the tube or can that it comes in?

3) Why do they use sterile injections when executing someone who is condemned to death?

4) Why do we press down harder and harder or the remote controls even though we know that the batteries are low?

5) Why is it that when someone hits us in the ankles with his supermarket trolley and then appologizes, do we say that everything is ok? I mean, things are not really fine. Why is it that we do not say that it hurts?

6) Why is it that whatever the color of the bath soap, the bubbles are always white?

7) Why is it that you will never find a day when mattresses are not on sale?

8) Why is it that online casinos always offer big prize money for their tournaments but never reveal the real name of the winner after the competition is over?

9) If human beings evolved from monkeys, why is it that there still are monkeys?

10) Why did the Japanese Kamikaze pilots wear helmets during the second World War?

11) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but, then, duck when the empty gun is thrown at him.

12) Why do banks charge a commission when you go into debt even though they know that there is no money in that account?

13) Why do people go back again and again to the refrigerator hoping that something new to eat will appear there?

14) Why do people move their vacuum cleaner over a thin thread lying on the floor, bend down, pick it up, examine it, and then, place it on the floor again and move the vacuum over it again?

15) Why do people believe it when they are told that there are more than four billion stars, but when they see a sign that says wet paint, they have to touch and check?

16) Why does a plastic bag not open at the end where you first try to open it?

17) Why do you never hear jokes about father in laws?

18) Why are there dead insects inside enclosed electric lamps?

19) Why is it that in winter we try and keep the house as warm as it was during the summer when back in the summer we hated the heat?

20) Why is it that every time you try and catch something that is about to fall off the table, you always hit something else and drop that instead?

Conclusion:
Life has many oddities and conundrums: some funny, some less. I have mentioned but a few. Think of more? Send them to me.

Today I stumbled upon a cool music player ?it worked so well, it was so easy and intuitive ?it simply delivered. In fact it was quite remarkable. Take a look at that word ?remarkable! Remark-able, yes, I was able to make voluntary, un-coerced positive remarks to my friends. They also liked it and may just tell their friends. What makes one website/product so remarkable? Well simply put when a website solves a problem, meets a need or satisfies a want, it’s likely to be a good site. However a remarkable site does all that so well that it literally over-delivers, surpasses all expectations and makes its visitors feel good just for finding it. In what way is your site, your product remarkable?

Why do you care? Because you want traffic, traffic, traffic. A good site may only convert 2- 5% of its traffic, so the higher your traffic, the more you sell. But other than positive, pervasive word of mouth you will have to work or pay for that traffic. I say work because there are some ways of generating traffic that don’t cost much money ?rather they demand time and effort.

One of the best ways to draw people to your site is through original content, articles specifically. There are hundreds of sites dedicated to article postings and within your ‘author bio?you can post the link back to your site. People go online primarily for content. They are looking for answers, looking for ideas and solutions ?sure some people are just bored and browsing, but your potential clients will only exchange their hard earned money for the promise that your product will get them closer to their goal. If you can write articles that show you understand them and that you have a special insight into their interests, they may in return believe in your product enough to give it a try.

You can also write some press releases. A press release is nothing more than a written announcement that discusses something exciting and hopefully newsworthy about your business. Typically it will have contact information so that any member of the press can easily reach you in case they have questions. There are many press release sites that can educate and help you spread your news.

These ideas are just the tip of the marketing strategy iceberg. You ought to find a mentor who can help you do all the above and more. Remember ?be remarkable. Let’s give them something to talk about!

As Google shows that internet surfing has overtaken the TV as a pleasure activity, mums (and house dads) living in suburbia are revealed as the new audience for websites.

In the UK the Government’s aim is to put public services online. The increased availability of broadband is allowing families tied to the house at home to make more use of the internet, and the term ‘mousewife?has been coined for these folks. Planning applications and making payments are the most popular services, and council websites are receiving 13 million visits a month.

Research is showing that more and more families are using these online services, finding it easy to access government and local authority services at times and places convenient to them. Some councils are finding that the internet is starting to take over from the telephone as the most popular communication channel.

The UK Government is delighted with the success of its e-government venture, as it enables savings to be made on services ?as ‘mousewives?self-serve information costs can be cut by lowering staffing levels, or money can be diverted into those services which need more cash.

Older people, ‘Silver Surfers?are also finding they like to contact their councils in this way.

So what does the emergence of the Mousewife mean to the commercial webmaster? Internet usage during the day is becoming serious competition for day time television. People at home during the day are as likely to spend their time surfing the internet as watching repeats and chat shows.

Internet shopping has increased considerably over the last few years, and people are used to finding information on line rather than going to the local library: in fact this is one area where the world wide web really does have one over on local authority services ?the book you want is never out! (Although you do have to be able to find it!)

If you have a business getting an internet presence is an absolute must as people change their behaviour. No longer will they want to pick up the phone to see if that holiday cottage is available ?they want instantaneous information. If they want information about an area they won’t want to buy a travel book, but look around at the different information available on the ‘net!

In the next few months the UK Government is going to undertake a vast advertising campaign promoting online services and encouraging take up. As more and more ‘Mousewives?and ‘Silver Surfers?start contacting their councils online, renewing their car tax and paying their parking fines they will get more used to the internet, and will depend less and less on the telephone or high street store.

The world never stands still ?you have just got to make sure you move along at the same pace (or be just a little ahead).

When you are designing your site, think of the Mousewife and the Silver Surfer ?and what can you do to attract her (or him!) away from those chat shows and into your virtual store!
