The Stress of Car Boot Sales!

So you’re thinking of going to a local garage or car boot sale. Well, here are some interesting facts about the stress you may encounter along the way. Especially if you’re going to sell.

buy,sell,trade,marketplace,car,boot,sale,garage,yard

Spend the whole day before the event organising your clutter. In and out of the loft, back and forth to the shed. All those arguments about what can and can’t go.

Clean your clutter. Well you do want a good price for it at the car boot sale!

Check that your car can carry the huge weight of the clutter to your local car boot …

Check your cars tyres, check the petrol gauge. Complete all the rudimentary checks would normally undertake before going on a journey with half a ton of extra weight in the back.

Pack your car with the newly identified clutter.

Repack your car several times with the newly identified clutter until it actually fits.

Unpack your clutter when you realise your partner will not be able to get in the car.

Optional – Repack your car but leave several items out so your partner can get in the car. Or, buy a bigger car (or van, or lorry).

Plan your route. Take into consideration the extra time needed to travel this distance. There will be several thousand other cars doing the same journey.

Congratulations! – So, you’re ready for the off in the morning. It’s only taken you all day to sort the clutter and the car out.

Set your alarm clock for 5 o’clock in the morning ?this is the very latest time you should look at getting out of bed.

Car boot sale day ?

It is morning and you now ache from all the hard work you accomplished the day before. Well, the day has just begun (although it may still be dark).

Be sure to make yourself a hearty breakfast. If you’re going on your own you won’t be able to leave the rear of your vehicle to get some food as someone might steal your clutter and your car (or parts of the car to sell on their stall).

Panic ?you suddenly remember that you will need a table to set out your clutter on. The pasting table you used to decorate the bedroom. The rails you used to hang your clothes on whilst you decorated your bedroom. These are the perfect car boot sale accessories!

The journey to the car boot sale ?

You now set off on your journey to the car boot sale. A few hours later and a few miles up the road you realise that it’s a bit foggy. It is not foggy. It is the fumes from all the cars on the road in front of you.

Eventually, you make it into the field where the car boot sale is being held. It is muddy. Did you bring an old pair of boots? Have a quick look round to see if anyone is selling some.

The car boot sale ?

You pay your pitch fee and you park your car. It’s not so bad. The grass will grow again ?some day.

Time to set up and wait for the first customer. But before you can get anything out, herds of strange folk come up to you and ask very forward questions. Like, “do you have any toys?”. These people are dealers, they prey on the unsuspecting, looking for the ultimate bargain.

Now the following is more than likely to happen, considering this is Britain and here comes the rain. Did you bring the brolly? Remember, people pay less for soggy goods.

The customers flock by and some even stop to have a look. You feel uncomfortable. These people are looking at your personal belongings. They may be old but they are part of your history. Are they judging you? All you want is to get rid of the stuff and maybe earn enough money to recoup all you have laid out for the day.

Counting the cost of the car boot sale ?

The sale of your clutter goes quite well ?not always the case. The average booter will take between ?5 and ?0. (Then spend it on buying more clutter). The obvious wear and tear on your poor vehicle or the time used to complete this exercise is not even included.

So the whole day has cost you a fiver. Well, at least you got rid of that unwanted clutter. All you’ve got to do now is find a place for the new clutter. And what about all the stuff you didn’t manage to sell?

It’s been a long day. No! It’s been a long weekend! Did you really need all that stress?

The average cost for the day is as follows ?
Takings:
?0

Petrol:
?0

Entrance Fee:
?0

Lunch and snacks
?

Other clutter purchased
?0

Profit:
-?

Seriously though, boot sales are a tried and trusted way to buy and sell but there are alternatives. Try ubos.co.uk.

SSL Certificates Offer Website Security

SSL is especially important when we give our credit card, personal information to e-commerce websites. This article discusses SSL information and factors used in securing websites.

ssl, ssl certificates, secure certificate, website security, certification authority

What is Secure Socket Layer (SSL)? Basically, it is the standard security technology used to encrypt online data. SSL offers encrypted communication between the web server (server-side) and the customer’s web browser (client-side) when transmitting personal information such as credit card number, name and address. The SSL protocol uses Certificate Authority (CA) to issue ‘digital certificates’ to the authenticated company.

The whole SSL process involves authenticating the server’s identity, the website’s identity and once the authentication is verified, the message will be sent in the form of encrypted information to the one who asked for a certificate. Usually, a browser requests a SSL certificate and in turn the web server supplies its public key with the requested certificate. Then, the browser has to verify whether the certificate issued is valid (certified by the authorized parties) and also should verify whether the SSL certificate issued comes from the particular website for which the request has been made.

An SSL certificate contains important details of the owner like his e-mail address, validity period, Distinguished Name along with the Common Name and also the certificate identification of the person who issues this information. The Certification Authority (CA) maintains an extensive list in which we can find names of the signed certificates and also more information about the revoked SSL certificates. Additionally, SSL increases the accountability and visibility of the company and creates goodwill and positive image among the customers. The certification maintains the integrity of the data passed to and fro between the browsers and web server (this is private and confidential). Thus, it’s a good tool to meet the security, privacy, safety standards required to protect sensitive and personal data.

SSL is especially important when we give our credit card, personal information to e-commerce websites. SSL certification cannot easily be accessed by hackers because the certificates have the proper key to encrypt the data. Therefore, the security of the certificate is taken care off in all aspects so one can really rely on the Certificate Authority (CA).

The internet has undoubtedly created new opportunities for e-commerce. However, that development is also attracting an ever-increasing number of cyber criminals. A fraudulent web site made to look very alike to a legitimate website may try to entice innocent customers into revealing personal information unknowingly. The only solution to this problem is to take advantage of the Secure Sockets Layer technology and implement it on your website. On the bottom line, every website that deals with sensitive information like credit card numbers or any other critical person information should have proper SSL certifications in place to protect them and their customers.

What I Discovered About Global Resorts Network – Part One

A real business with a real quality product, that is worth the cost, is important to me. Although, I confess I’ve gotten caught up in a few “money games” and questionable programs along the way.

Global Resorts Network

I’ve been involved in Internet Businesses for quite a few years….even before we retired. We were fortunate to be able to retire early, thanks in part to the Internet. I’ve had success with some programs, as well as paying my dues and acquiring an expensive education with unsuccessful programs. But I’ve certainly learned a lot. And one of the most important things I’ve learned is that things are constantly changing on the Internet. What worked last year might not work this year or a new strategy will work better (more on this later).

A real business with a real quality product, that is worth the cost, is important to me. Although, I confess I’ve gotten caught up in a few “money games” and questionable programs along the way.

Anyway, last year my main business company was going down, although I was still working it. I started looking to see what else was out there. I saw several programs selling ebooks and software for a hefty price…many of them were available for free or a low cost if one searched. And other programs with good products that were over-priced. And some other programs with some good products, but hard to understand and explain to justify the cost. Many now days are 1 or 2-up programs, where you just make money on your sales with no opportunity for residual income. And a lot were probably good programs, but were not capable of producing a great income without recruiting tons of people into a matrix.

And then I was introduced to Global Resorts Network by my sponsor in a couple of previous programs. When I saw it and studied the product, I was thrilled. We love to travel and own a couple of timeshare weeks and enjoy staying in luxury resort condos. It’s so much nicer than just a hotel room.

But time shares can be frustrating. It can be hard to exchange for when and where you want to travel. And the fees keep going up…there are maintenance fees, exchange fees and subscription fees, plus the initial cost of buying a week…which can be tens of thousands. We pay over $1000 a year in these fees. So when I saw the GRN Platinum Lifetime membership for only $3000, I was excited. We could get rid of our timeshare weeks and not have to pay all of the fees. And with the Global Resorts Network membership, now we pay only for what we actually use…as low as $298 for a full week in a luxury resort condo!

Website Value – What’s Your Business’ Website Worth?

If you were asked to put a value on your website what would it be? Perhaps you paid a small fortune and commissioned a top design agency to build it. It would still be worth at least what you paid for it, right?

It’s a sad fact that a great number of websites are worthless. They give no value to their owners and are little more than a drain on resources. Would it surprise you if your website was classed as one of these?

If you were asked to put a value on your website what would it be? Perhaps you paid a small fortune and commissioned a top design agency to build it. It would still be worth at least what you paid for it, right?

It’s a sad fact that a great number of websites are worthless. They give no value to their owners and are little more than a drain on resources. Would it surprise you if your website was classed as one of these?

The World Wide Web is made up of millions of webpages so it’s not surprising that many are rarely seen by human eyes other than their owners’ and creators’. These unfulfilled webpages are like trees in a forest. They can make as much noise as they want, but if no one is around to hear it then who is to know they ever made a sound? Too many of those that are seen by people are poor at encouraging progress through the sales cycle i.e. they don’t persuade the reader enough to progress to the next stage whether that’s submitting a sales query or making a purchase.

So how have you determined the value of your website? Have you only taken into account its cost to build and maintain or have you also considered what it actually does for you and the value it adds to your business? Ask yourself this question, if you were to put your website up for sale, how would you convince a potential buyer that it was worth the asking price? Would you sell it on the basis of how much it cost to build or on the strength of the benefits it brings?

Do you think owners of expensive luxury cars are motivated by how much they cost to build, run and service or because of things like the prestige they give the owner, the superior performance and higher levels of comfort? In this context, it may be easier to recognise value and worth, but when it comes to your website can you do the same? If your website provides you with no measurable benefits or is a tree in a lonely forest then how can you be sure it’s worth anything?

Suppose we’re comparing two very different websites; one cost ?0,000 to build, looks very impressive, but converts poorly, generates little interest and the other cost ?,000 to build, wouldn’t win any design contests, but consistently generates fresh leads and converts a high percentage of prospects into customers. Which of these websites do you think is worth more?

Now ask yourself again, what’s the value of your website?

So your business has expanded to reach the point where you need to find an effective Internet payment solution? The first option to consider is applying for a merchant account. If your business enjoys a solid credit history, pays its bills on time, and avoids controversial dealings, your application should be approved without a hitch. Then you can set up a company Website where you can sell more products and services and let customers pay with a credit card online.

This Internet payment solution is one of the fastest growing e-commerce innovations today. No matter how large or small your company, it is always a good idea to put up a Website to establish a cyberspace presence. At their leisure, your current and potential new customers can visit your site and browse all kinds of information, such as hours of operation, product lines and price lists, testimonials, FAQs, and other useful details. When you install a credit card processor, guests can shop on the Website and pay with plastic by inserting the cardholder’s name, account number, and date of expiration. There is no need to wait around for a check in the mail or a hand-delivered money order.

Pricing for this type of Internet payment solution will vary. After being approved for a merchant account with a participating financial institution that will most likely be a bank, you can shop for the best deal associated with your new merchant status. In some cases, the installation fee will be waived. In other situations, you can get a low transaction fee or an inexpensive monthly percentage rate that will be paid on your account. Other fees may apply, like those associated with membership, maintenance, and gateway service, so you will need to ask about these and other possible costs before signing up for your account with a particular bank or credit union.

Your individual Internet payment solution can be tailor-made to suit your company’s needs. For example, you can apply for a high-volume merchant account if you are doing a brisk business, or you can stick with the conventional merchant account if you are still building a client base. Then you can decide whether to use the regular credit card payment method via the Website or whether you prefer guiding guests to a toll-free number that can be dialed for orders. Discuss you specialized needs with a merchant account associate who can explain the pros and cons of each option so that you can make an informed decision rather than buy the least expensive or the most up-to-date equipment.

Doing business on the Internet can seem a little overwhelming to entrepreneurs who worry about transactional security, fraud, unwanted spam, and computer viruses. Take a short course like those offered by the major computer manufacturers to learn about Internet payment solutions and how to secure your Website. When you are ready to take the plunge, open a merchant account, set up a company Website with ordering capabilities, and provide customers with your Internet payment solution.

Web Business Overview ?Marketing

You’ve done your research, written a business plan and created a web site. Now it’s time to market your web business.

You’ve done your research, written a business plan and created a web site. Now it’s time to market your web business.

Internet Marketing

There are many ways to market a web site. One of the best ways is through search engines and directories. Search engines ensure pre-qualified traffic, meaning that if someone finds your site through a search engine, there is a good chance they are looking for the widgets you are selling. You just have to do you homework on keywords, optimize your site and submit it to search engines correctly.

Organic

There are several types of search engines and directories. A spider search engine uses programs called spiders to go around the web and collect data and bring it back to the engine. The data is then analyzed using various mathematical algorithms and your site appears in various listings. Of course, you want to get to the top of the listings, but that subject is beyond the scope of this article.

PPC

Then there are pay-per-click search engines, which require the site owner to pay for every click received from a list of search terms the site owner provides. Traffic can cost anywhere from a cent to a few dollars per click on pay per click engines. This is a good way to get immediate traffic to your site.

Directories

Then there are the directories, such as Yahoo. These directors have reviewers that check submissions for quality and categorize them in folder-like branches of information. Directories such as Yahoo require a payment for listing, whereas other directories, such as DMOZ, do not. Some directories use a combination of human and spider review as well.

Trading Links

Another way to get traffic to your site is by trading links with other sites. A banner or text link is placed on your site to another relevant site, then you kindly request that a link to your site be placed on the site you have linked to. Link trading has a side benefit, to wit, the more you trade the higher you will appear in organic search engine results.

Brick n?Mortar

Other methods of web promotion include web rings, banner exchanges, print advertising, banner advertising, TV and radio advertising and good old networking. Far to often, web businesses fail to pursue regular old marketing methods. Don’t make this mistake.

Now that you have a good plan, done some research, provided your service or product for all to see with a web site, and marketed your site to no end, there is nothing left to do but sit back and rake in the cash. Until, of course, your competitors start moving in on your customers and you have to start the cycle all over again.

What or where is the road to easy money?

Maybe you have a rich uncle? Or maybe you know the winning numbers to the lottery? However, if you’re thinking an Article Directory is the way to go, you may be disappointed.

Why isn’t an Article directory the path to success?

With the search engines, content is “king?so more content should increase the chances of our website being included in the search engine results – Right?

Traditionally, making money from an Article Directory required that advertising of some sort, like Google’s AdSense, be added to each article’s page. Users would find the article via the search engines, read the article, and then click on the advertising link. The result is money earned from the user clicking on the ad. If we published more articles, then more people would click and we would make MORE money. Get the idea?

This normally would be sound thinking; however the thing about search engines that it is easy to forget is that they have very few slots open at the top of their search results. Getting to the top is not easy anymore, especially if you’re working in a competitive subject area. The amount of content on the internet continues to grow daily.

So what good then is an Article Directory?

I’d suggest that an Article Directory is one piece of developing a website worth visiting and “worthy?of the top search engine results. You need to have GOOD PRODUCTS and SERVICES to make any money. However, if you want your site to be around very long you also need information to keep your visitors.

For example: When I first started looking into establishing a home business, I knew almost nothing about one – other than the fact that there were a lot of scams and I needed to be careful before pulling out the credit card.

I did some research, and then finally selected a company that had been around for a while with products to sell along with an opportunity. My sponsor had his own website and one of the first things I did after signing up was to look thru his site for more information. I went thru various pages of his site reading everything I could and also clicking on?guess what?AdSense ads. (Google and their advertiser’s would probably have been happy as well as I was a “targeted clicker?.

The point of this example is that there are many WAYS TO MAKE MONEY on the internet ?MAKE USE OF ALL OF THEM.

An article directory may very well help draw people to your site thru the search engines, depending on the content of the articles and many other factors. However, like many other site owners you may need to use multiple techniques to get visitors to your site. Along the same line of thinking you may need multiple ways of making money. Once you get visitors to your site you need to keep them there and keep them coming back for more and then to either spend money or generate money via advertising clicks.

Today, with online marketing there may no longer be any one “easy road?to success, but there are still lots of different techniques which together all contribute to success.

Your own article directory is one way to be successful.
